Snowshoe at Craters of the Moon 2/15/2014
Time: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Snowshoeing at Craters of the Moon!
Date: Saturday, February 15th, 2014
Time: 8am-5pm
Come snowshoe with the CSI Outdoor Program!
Spend the day exploring Craters of the Moon -- a vast ocean of lava flows scatter with cinder cones and sagebrush. In the winter, this landscape is even more unique as the snow reveals the rolling depths of the landscape and gives viewers a whole new scene.
We''ll meet at the Taylor Building / SUB Circle at 8am on Saturday Feb 15th, and depart by 8:30 am to Craters of the Moon National Park for a Geology and History of the Park briefing, and snowshoe gear orientation. Afterwards, we''ll be fitted for snowshoes and then depart for a 3 to 4 hour easy to moderate snowshoe hike, exploring the park and trails for fitness and recreation. At a halfway point, we''ll stop and eat lunch, at which point patrons can decide to turn back or continue on the trail.
We should be back to CSI by 5pm. Cost for this trip is $15, which includes transportation and gear. This event is open to everyone, including students, faculty/CSI Staff, and community members. Participants are responsible for bringing their own lunch and snacks.
All participants should register at the CSI REC CENTER front desk. For more information, contact cgessaman@csi.edu or call 732-6697.
